Jail Experience LITE introduces guests to the physical environment, uniforms, sleeping accommodations, community, and atmosphere of Facility 22 at a relaxed pace. The program uses light interactions and activities while allowing guests to retain significantly more freedom and personal control than the full Jail Experience.
Your sleeping cell remains unlocked, and you may move within designated guest areas.
Standard full-event role-play vetting is not required. Valid photo identification is required.
Dinner and breakfast are included unless the current event listing states otherwise.
No previous jail role-play experience is required.
What happens
From check-in to breakfast
The sequence and activities may change between events. This overview describes the normal LITE experience rather than a guaranteed minute-by-minute schedule.
Normal Check-In
Arrive at Facility 22 at the published time, present valid identification, sign required documents, and receive orientation. Cell phones are collected at entry. Standard LITE check-in does not use an arrest pickup or staged surrender.
Change Privately
You will be handed an inmate uniform and directed to a private changing area. LITE does not use the full event’s immersive intake process.
Dinner in Jail
Share dinner inside the former jail, meet other guests, and settle into the environment before the evening activities begin.
Explore & Participate
Take part in light jail-themed activities, demonstrations, tours, and interactions. Guests may move freely within designated areas.
Unlocked Cell Stay
Sleep overnight in an assigned jail cell with the door unlocked, then have breakfast and depart during the published release window.

What LITE does include

What LITE does not include
- Locked sleeping cells
- Staged arrest pickups or full surrender processing
- Strip searches, forced showering, or changing in front of others
- Real locking correctional restraints
- Strict guard control over routine movement
- Possession or use of a cell phone outside the visitation area
- A continuous multi-day correctional simulation
- Guaranteed discipline, solitary, padded-cell, restraint, or transport scenes
Participants who request real restraints or the more restrictive elements of the full simulation will be directed to a future full Jail Experience event. Those elements will not be added to LITE on request.
Rules, consent, and safety
Relaxed does not mean unregulated.
All guests must follow the Participant Rules & Conduct Code. Staff may stop any activity, restrict an area, change instructions, or remove a participant when necessary.
Private out-of-character conversation
“I want to speak with my lawyer.”
This preferred phrase tells staff that you need a private, out-of-character conversation. You may also communicate directly that you need to pause or stop.
Everything is good. Continue at the current level.
Slow down, reduce intensity, or check in before continuing.
Stop the interaction immediately and reset or end the activity.
- Participation remains voluntary throughout the program.
- Guests may decline or stop an interaction using the established safety procedures.
- Harassment, coercion, real-world threats, hate speech, and nonconsensual contact are prohibited.
- Weapons, illicit drugs, bodily-fluid play, and deliberate damage are prohibited.
- Do not defeat locks, doors, cameras, alarms, or other building systems.
- Cell phones are collected upon entry and may be used only in the visitation area upon request. Phones are not permitted elsewhere in the facility to protect the privacy of other participants.
- Personal recording of other guests is subject to the Conduct Code and event instructions.
- Serious or repeated violations may result in removal without refund.

LITE versus full immersion
LITE is not a reduced-price version of the same event. It is a separate program with a different purpose, pace, and level of control.

LITE is approachable, but it still takes place inside a real former jail with communal spaces, hard surfaces, institutional noise, security systems, and other guests.

Preparing for the night
Bring what you need—keep it simple.

Travel and personal property
Plan your own arrival and departure.
Facility 22 does not assume responsibility for your vehicle, items left in your vehicle, or transportation after the event.
You are responsible for parking legally and securing your vehicle. Facility 22 is not responsible for your vehicle or for theft, loss, damage, towing, or weather exposure.
Do not leave valuables, medication, identification, or essential travel items in your vehicle. Property left inside a vehicle remains your responsibility.
Arrange transportation to check-in and after release. Facility 22 does not provide or guarantee return transportation after the program.
Registration
A simpler admission process.
LITE does not use the standard full-event vetting process, but registration details must be accurate, admission remains subject to event requirements, and valid photo ID is required at check-in.

Before your overnight stay

Is Jail Experience LITE a role-play event?
It includes light jail-themed activities and interactions, but it is not a sustained full-immersion simulation. Guests retain more personal control, may move within designated areas, and sleep with their cell doors unlocked.
Will my cell be locked?
No. Sleeping cells remain unlocked during the LITE program. Staff may temporarily restrict access to a particular area for safety, privacy, or operations, but guests are not confined under the full event’s locked-cell structure.
Will I be arrested or processed like a full-event inmate?
No. Standard LITE check-in does not include an arrest pickup, staged surrender, or full immersive intake. You will check in normally, receive orientation, be handed an inmate uniform, and change in a private area.
Are real restraints used?
No live locking correctional restraints are used as part of the standard LITE program. Non-locking training restraints may be used during approved light demonstrations or activities. Guests seeking real restraint scenarios should consider the full Jail Experience.
Do I need to complete vetting?
Standard full-event vetting is not required. You must register accurately, meet the event’s age and admission requirements, follow the Participant Rules, sign required documents, and present valid government-issued photo identification at check-in.
What meals are provided?
Dinner and breakfast are normally included. Menus vary, and the current event listing controls. Disclose allergies and dietary needs during registration so available accommodations can be reviewed before the event.
Do I have to wear the inmate uniform?
Wearing the provided uniform is part of the standard LITE experience. You will be given a private place to change. Contact Facility 22 before registering if a medical, accessibility, or other material concern may prevent you from wearing the uniform.
Will I have my own cell?
The event is designed around sleeping in an assigned unlocked jail cell. Housing assignments and occupancy depend on the specific event, registration configuration, accessibility needs, and facility operations. Review the current ticket description for any event-specific arrangement.
Can I leave before the event ends?
Participation is voluntary, and you may leave. Notify staff before departing so they can account for all guests and help you retrieve any stored property. Early departure does not automatically qualify for a refund or credit.
Who is responsible for my vehicle and transportation?
You are responsible for your vehicle, anything left inside it, transportation to the event, and transportation after release. Facility 22 is not responsible for theft, loss, damage, towing, weather exposure, or belongings left in a vehicle and does not provide or guarantee post-event transportation.
Can I use my phone?
Cell phones are collected when you enter Facility 22. You may request access to your phone and use it in the visitation area. Phones may not be carried or used outside the visitation area so the privacy of other participants is protected.
Will photographs or video be taken?
Security cameras operate in designated areas, and event photography may occur under published media rules. Personal recording of other guests is restricted by the Participant Rules & Conduct Code and event-specific consent instructions.
